New DJ Archangel Remix

Our favorite dee-jay "Archangel" recently did a remix for 953 recordings.
They hated it, and thought it was the worst remix ever.
What do you think?

Sylock opening for Richie August of Hulk 5-22

Seriously tho....this is gonna be a fucking throw down!
One of the few shows to anticipate before DEMF is upon us, and the 616 crews showing off why Grand Rapids deserves the support and the respect.

Richie August// Chicago, Furthersound.com, Brotown
http://www.myspace.com/RichieAugust
http://www.furthersound.com/richie-august/

Richie August started mixing Drum & Bass and Hip Hop in 1998. He then started producing his own music in 2000, and worked with Chicago Hip Hop artist, “Skope The Lyrical MC”, until he was exposed to Dubstep in early 2008. It didn’t take him long before his first Dubstep release was signed to Betamorph Recordings entitled “Death Proof EP”. As soon as that EP was released, it solidified his sound in the Dubstep community as a Producer / DJ with nothing but teeth rattling bass and a Hip Hop edge… A sound which nobody has been able to imitate. As soon as you hear a new Richie August tune, you know it’s his. Since then, he’s been making beat after beat, remixing, collaborating and pushing out tracks.

After Claw left TrillBass in October of 2009, he teamed up with Richie to form the group “HULK”. They have already been touring across the states for months and their first official release dropped on Reid Speeds’ “Play Me Records” as a Beatport exclusive in January of 2010. The release contains the tracks, “See You” and “Angeldust” with official remixes by King from Las Vegas. Hulk has also recently launched their own record label, “BroTown Records” with the help of Symphonic Distribution. This new venture already has the scene begging for the slated releases to drop, with songs by Claw and Richie August along BroTown artists Vaski, Druley, Mark Instinct, Symbl and their own moniker, HULK. Get ready for the biggest bass in the game, Hulk is here to SMASH!

Sweet goodness is this going to melt faces.

what we have here is the bi product of musical cross pollination, EOTO definitely having their roots situated in a jam band format, opens the gate of possibilities with the usage of electronic instruments, this is a genre we here in Michigan have dubbed "Jam-Tronica" and its growing more and more as bands across the globe are experimenting with other musical concepts and equipment. a testament to the exact nature of the beast resides within the humble host of this show, Garganta.

http://www.gargantavision.com/

Garganta to me, is really the epitome of the merging of electronic dance music and jam music into one set. Garganta will take popular electronic tracks and remix them live as well as play their original work. Their sets are always unique, always something new, their sound is always improving, and their fan base consistently growing, and for a good reason! Garganta started making their debut in early 2008 and are already playing with the likes of Lotus, EOTO, Boombox, Papadosio, and the list goes on. within two years Garganta has already participated in the Rothbury music festival, as well as making their first appearance this year at Summerdance. With a forward thought approach its no wonder why Garganta is catching on, and i can only anticipate them getting bigger still, be on the look out Garganta is coming this way!

Lets not forget that theres still more to this line up, we'll be seeing Ultra Mega (aka triptronic) making his debut at Electro Jam 6. playing his original work I believe we are all in for a suprise!

and of course, there is Superdre, one of Grand Rapid's very own and very successful DJ and Producers, making a big impact in the local scene. Superdre, has been conquering dancefloors throughout the years and she's on the move! I hate feeding the all mighty debate that women do not make great dj's, you rarely hear Dre mention the fact, or use gender as a handicap, i think its because she lets her sets and original work do the talking for her (seriously if you dont think this chick can throw down i suggest you check out any one of her 32983493 mixes available for download, or even check out her myspace page to hear any of her tracks, personally i love that miniphone track http://www.djsuperdre.com/ for following this woman that rolls! ) Much respect to superdre holding it down in the 616.

and then theres me.... well if you havent heard me and somehow found yourself following this blog i'm surprised and disappointed! I'm not gonna sit here and type that I can spin pretty much any genre thats under the electronic sun, except that i just did! seriously tho, i'm gonna drop some of the sickest selections in dubstep and drum n bass, all vinyl, and all facemelters! you can follow me here and also check out some of my original work on soundcloud. www.soundcloud.com/sylock

the tickets will be on sale right now, pick up yours today, because this show is garenteed to rock out!

(you can find more info on the event here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=270393643411&ref=ts )
all i can say is, this is gonna be one hell of a show. we got Adam Francesconi coming all the way from the d, just to lay down some of the smoothest, funkiest, house ever! and i dare u to prove me otherwise! and Crispin Klemp comes out of hiding for a show i'm sure he's been premeditating for just the right tracks, he's like a white derrick may, he may not smile or move much, but thats just because he's focusing all his energy into dropping the sickest tracks techno has ever made!
and let us not forget Memnok, if ur a podcast listener then you already know a little bit about this shadowy figure lurking in the dark! memnok will be melting faces, its just pure and simple. Jeremy Brown may be just now popping up on the map of techno, but he is no stranger to its rhythms. come join all of us down at Bar Divani, on april 24th, theres no cover, the environment is chill, the beers cheap (2 dollar beers avail) and the beats, well they need little introduction

join us on facebook for the event!

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=109765979058450
ok so here's a show i will be playing, definitely gonna be some fun, its pretty simple too! u bowl, u drink beers, and u listen to awesome music, and um... prolly drink more later.

so! if ur in the G RAP area come through and bowl a game wif a beer and some beats! done! i just solved ur night on thursday, instead of having to go do that one boring thing u can be like, uh shit we gotta do this one thing thats way awesomer.

Lime Green Shirt: Grand Rapids Show listings,

whats up everyone.

so I got some shows coming up, i know i'm excited for the excitement that your excited about too.

here is one that will be off the hook, i mean the kind of show u find urself going to sleep at 10 am the next day after ur bloody mary and last cigarette from the second pack you bought on your way to get a couple of ultra dogs from yesterdog before you went to hang out at some doods house that you have no idea who he is except the broski's call him oggy, only to find out you totally banged his gf like 2 yrs ago, and she keeps eye fucking you from afar...

i predict a lot of deep house, minimal house, minimal techno, and just straight up pounding techno thats gonna keep u doing that head bobble till u decide ur drunk enough to dance!

i'll have a couple of shows for next week also posted, stay in the loop! for more info on the show this friday here's a fb link http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=108544742514789&index=1

so, i like pistachios, and i happen to be a green "consumer" as well. i feel like i waste so much for the yummy interior, and what do i do with the shell? i would like to see ppl recycling the shells of pistachios so that we can make things out of them. think about it from a corporate perspective, u got literally millions of consumers shucking these nuts and tossing the remains, we're sitting on a gold mine prime for the taking! now, what on earth could we make with these shells!?

616 LGS crew!

Ok, so... new blog post... better watch out, cuz we got lots of stuff soon to be posted from the Michigan LGS crew, we will be having exclusive mixes, event postings, random blog rants, and anything else we find relevant to this blogisphere! :D until then here's a topic to keep you busy:

during the great schism of the roman catholic church from the eastern orthodox, many views and fundamentals were changed the process. in the formal settings of the hierarchy, the bishop who resided in Rome was the 1st in charge. the 2nd bishop residing in Constantinople would be 2nd only to the Bishop in Rome. so my question to you is this; are eggs good for you or bad for you? cuz seriously i've seen the news and they say bad cholesterol then its good cholesterol?! idk who to trust with this issue, what do you guys think?
